This Privacy Policy describes how Conveyance Law, PLC (“Conveyance Law,” “the firm,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and discloses information about visitors to conveyance.law and individuals who communicate with the firm.

Information We Collect

Information you provide. When you contact us through the site, whether by scheduling a consultation through Calendly or emailing us directly, we receive the information you choose to share. This typically includes your name, email address, phone number, a description of your matter, and any documents or attachments you send. If you subscribe to Conveyance Law Insights, we collect your email address and process it through MailerLite, our email service provider, solely to send you the newsletter. Every issue includes an unsubscribe link, and you may unsubscribe at any time.

Information collected automatically. When you visit conveyance.law, certain information is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies. This includes your IP address, browser type and version, device type and operating system, the pages you visit and time spent on each, the website that referred you to us, and general geographic location based on your IP address. We use Google Analytics 4 to process this information; Google’s privacy practices are described at policies.google.com/privacy. We also use Google Ads conversion tracking and remarketing tags, which use cookies to measure whether visitors who arrive from our advertisements schedule a consultation or call the firm, and which may allow Google to show our advertisements to prior visitors on other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google at adssettings.google.com.

Information from third parties. If you book a consultation through Calendly, we receive the appointment details and any information you provide through Calendly’s intake fields. Calendly’s privacy practices are described at calendly.com/privacy.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your inquiries and provide the legal services you request
  • Schedule and confirm consultations and meetings
  • Conduct conflict-of-interest checks before engagement
  • Maintain the security and proper operation of the site
  • Understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it
  • Comply with legal obligations applicable to the firm, including the Iowa Rules of Professional Conduct

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. We do not use the information you provide to send unsolicited communications outside the scope of your inquiry.

Confidentiality and the Attorney-Client Relationship

Submitting information through the site, scheduling a consultation, or contacting the firm by email does not create an attorney-client relationship. We may not be able to maintain the confidentiality of information you send to us before a formal engagement is in place, including information sent by unencrypted email. Please do not share confidential information until we have confirmed in writing that we represent you.

Once a formal engagement begins, communications between you and the firm are protected by the attorney-client privilege and the duty of confidentiality under the Iowa Rules of Professional Conduct.

How We Share Information

We share information only as follows:

  • With service providers that help us operate the site and the firm, for example our website host, our Calendly account, our email service, our analytics provider, and our cloud document storage. These providers are bound by their own privacy obligations.
  • With co-counsel, opposing counsel, and third parties as necessary to provide legal services in a matter where you have engaged the firm.
  • As required by law, for example in response to a subpoena, court order, or other legal process; to enforce our rights; or to protect against fraud, abuse, or illegal activity.

We do not share, sell, or rent personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The site uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics, advertising measurement, and embedded scheduling. You can control cookies through your browser settings; most browsers allow you to refuse cookies entirely or to be notified before a cookie is set. Refusing cookies may limit certain functionality on the site. To opt out of Google Analytics tracking specifically, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Data Retention

We retain information you provide for as long as is necessary to respond to your inquiry, provide the legal services requested, comply with our legal and ethical obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Client matter files are retained according to the firm’s file retention schedule and applicable Iowa Rules of Professional Conduct.

Security

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we collect. No system, however, is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted to us over the internet, and any transmission is at your own risk. Sensitive matter-related documents should be exchanged through secure channels we agree on at the start of an engagement.

Your Rights

Depending on where you reside, you may have rights with respect to your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your information, and the right to opt out of certain processing. Iowa does not currently have a comprehensive consumer privacy statute, but residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other states with privacy laws may exercise rights granted by those statutes. Residents of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom may exercise rights under the General Data Protection Regulation. To make a request, contact us at the address below.

Children’s Privacy

The site is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can delete it.
